This is because the language of the United States is English and people there feel integrated in their society, probably far more than any immigrant in e.g. continental Europe. In the UK you can also see this - there are even Iranians who sometimes talk to each-other in English totally unconsciously, and there are those who cannot speak Persian. It becomes very normal for you to speak English, even for me. I used to be very precise in my choice of persian words in my writings, but that wasn't easy while my daily spoken language was English - it used to take me hours to write a paragraph. So, as I didn't want to mix English words in my persian, I totally gave up on writing in persian and chose English instead, no matter how bad my it might sound. (The interesting thing is that foreigners who live here get used to their bad language so a great many of them never try to improve it.) But, the advantage is that you can feel rather at home when you go to the supermarket and realize you almost speak the same language of the shop-keeper.
